My cousin Mike lives in a remote, beautiful part of the world on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee called Cold Springs Ranch. He has a beautiful, custom-built log cabin on several acres of this near-wilderness area. This is near a pretty famous hiking destination, Max Patch. This region is where the Blue Ridge and Smoky mountains meet. He grew up in on the Western slopes of the now famous Cold Mountain (I grew up about 30 miles East of Cold Mountain). For me…and I think Mike would echo this…there’s a spiritual connection to these mountains that cannot be explained in words.
His job affords him the “luxury” of working from home–I say “luxury”, because people who have never worked from home think it would be the greatest thing ever, and in a way it is if the environment is right. Those who have worked from home will tell you that you’ll never work more in your life. The boundaries between work and home are somewhat fuzzy, and it’s hard to find the end of of your work day and your home time and vice versa.
But I digress…
Mike’s website, www.coldspringsranch.net is visually stunning not only because he’s a computer guy by trade, but because he’s an awesome photographer. You can also check out the Ranch Webcam to see what the weather is like there anytime during daylight hours. It’s a pretty scene right now, because he had just had over a foot of snow drop.
His recent blog post features some awesome pictures he’s taken over the last couple of years. It’s well worth the click.
